Wire & cable we buy
Sell low voltage, communication and fire alarm cable
CAT5e and CAT6, communication, fire alarm, plenum and low-voltage control cable left over from fit-outs, renovations and low-voltage packages.
Low voltage cable accumulates quietly. A structured cabling package ships in 1,000-foot boxes, the job uses 700 feet, and the rest sits on a shelf until the next project specifications make it obsolete. Fire alarm and plenum cable follow the same pattern.
The value here is driven by the rating and the remaining length. Plenum-rated cable is more expensive than riser or general-purpose cable, and a sealed box with the original length marking is much easier to place than a loose coil with no print.
We buy CAT5e and CAT6, communication cable, fire alarm cable, low-voltage control and security cable in boxes, cartons, reels and unused coils. Fiber optic cable is reviewed case by case.
What we buy in this category
- CAT5e and CAT6 riser and plenum cable in boxes
- CAT6A and shielded twisted pair
- Fire alarm cable, FPLR and FPLP
- Communication and security cable
- Low-voltage control and thermostat cable
- Irrigation, speaker and doorbell cable in coils
- Coaxial cable such as RG6 and RG11
- Plenum-rated cable in partial boxes
Low voltage cable types
The rating printed on the jacket determines where the cable may be installed, and therefore what it is worth.
| Cable | Typical construction | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| CAT5e | Four-pair UTP, 24 AWG, riser CMR or plenum CMP | Box label and the printed rating |
| CAT6 / CAT6A | Four-pair UTP or shielded, 23 AWG, higher performance | Box label, footage and print |
| Fire alarm cable | FPLR riser or FPLP plenum, shielded or unshielded, 14 to 18 AWG | Print showing FPLR or FPLP |
| Security cable | Multi-conductor stranded, often shielded, 18 to 22 AWG | Print and conductor count |
| Coaxial | RG6 or RG11, riser or plenum, quad shield | Box label and printed type |
| Low-voltage control | Thermostat, irrigation and control cable in coils | Coil label and conductor count |

Boxes are easier than coils. A sealed box with the factory length label is the simplest low voltage submission. Loose coils are reviewed on print and measured length.
What makes a submission easy to price
Low voltage cable is light and ships easily, which makes smaller lots more viable than in other categories.
- Box or carton label showing category and length
- The printed rating, such as CMP, CMR, FPLR or FPLP
- Whether the box is sealed or partly used
- The number of boxes in the lot
- For fire alarm cable, the AWG and conductor count
Condition and quantity
Sealed boxes with factory length labels are the best case. Photograph the label and the box end.
Opened boxes are reviewed on remaining length. State whether the remaining cable is measured or estimated.
Cable pulled through a building and removed is generally declined unless it is clean, undamaged and still on a reel or in a box.

List the categories, box counts and remaining lengths, then photograph the box labels and jacket print.
- Photos speed up review more than anything else
- Cable markings, jacket legends and reel tags help us identify the product
- No obligation and no cost to submit

Low voltage cable questions
Do you buy partial boxes of CAT6?
Yes, when the remaining length is stated and the print is legible. Plenum-rated cable in particular is worth submitting even in partial boxes.
Do you buy fire alarm cable?
Yes, FPLR and FPLP cable in boxes or reels. Include the AWG and conductor count, since fire alarm cable comes in several configurations.
Is fiber optic cable purchased?
Fiber is reviewed case by case rather than as a standard category. Send the type, connector status and length before assuming it fits.
Do you buy used network cable?
Pulled network cable is generally not purchased. Unused boxes and reels are the normal submission.
