Wire & cable we buy
Sell SER, SEU, URD and USE-2 cable
Service entrance and underground cable in aluminum or copper, from full reels to the cut lengths left after a service upgrade.
Service entrance and underground cable move through Indiana in phases: a subdivision builds out, a service upgrade changes the required size, a utility rebuild leaves URD on the reel, and the remainder sits in a conex or on a rack.
SER and SEU are above-ground service entrance cable; URD and USE-2 are built for direct burial. The conductor count and the neutral construction matter more here than in almost any other category, because two cables that look identical on the outside can have different conductor configurations inside.
We buy aluminum and copper service entrance and underground cable in sealed reels, partial reels and unused cut lengths, with the reel tag and print confirming what it is.
What we buy in this category
- SER cable, aluminum or copper, 2, 3 and 4 conductor with ground
- SEU cable with concentric neutral
- URD single conductor and triplex, aluminum or copper
- USE-2 underground service entrance cable
- Mobile home feeder and ranch feeder cable
- Direct-burial feeder in partial reels
- Service cable cut lengths from upgrades
- Sealed factory reels with legible tags
Service and underground cable types
Identify the cable by conductor count, neutral type and whether it is rated for direct burial.
| Cable | Typical construction | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| SER | Service entrance cable with a full-size ground, 600V, aluminum or copper | Photo of the cable end showing all conductors |
| SEU | Service entrance cable with a concentric neutral around the conductors | Close-up of the neutral strands at the end |
| URD | Underground distribution cable, single or triplex, usually aluminum | Reel tag and the printed size |
| USE-2 | Underground service entrance cable rated for direct burial and sunlight | Legend photo showing USE-2 |
| Mobile home feeder | Four-conductor aluminum feeder, 600V, direct burial | Tag plus conductor count photo |
| Triplex URD | Three conductors twisted together, often 2/0 or 4/0 | Wide shot of the reel and a close-up of the twist |

Conductor configuration is the detail that decides value. 2-2-2-4 and 4/0-4/0-4/0-2/0 are both common requests, and both are frequently mislabeled on a reel tag. Photograph the cut end.
What makes a submission easy to price
A photo of the cable end answers most of the questions that a reel tag leaves open.
- The reel tag with footage and size
- The printed legend on the jacket
- A clear photo of the cut end showing every conductor
- Whether the neutral is concentric or a full-size conductor
- Whether the cable has been buried or only stored
Condition and quantity
Sealed reels with tags are simplest and usually need only two photos.
Opened reels are reviewed on remaining footage and storage. Cable stored indoors and capped at the end is in a better position than cable that has been lying in a yard.
Cable that has already been buried and pulled out is reviewed as used material and often declined if the jacket is damaged or dirty enough to hide the print.

Request a quote for service entrance cable
Include the conductor configuration, size, footage and a photo of the cut end. Sealed reels can be quoted from the tag alone.
- Photos speed up review more than anything else
- Cable markings, jacket legends and reel tags help us identify the product
- No obligation and no cost to submit

Service entrance and URD questions
Do you buy URD that has already been buried?
Usually not. Pulled underground cable is often damaged and dirty enough that identification and condition cannot be confirmed. Unused URD on the reel is a much stronger submission.
What conductor configurations do you see most?
Aluminum 2-2-2-4 and 4/0-4/0-2/0 are common in service work, along with 350 MCM and 500 MCM single-conductor URD. Note the exact configuration on the form.
Can I sell short cut lengths of SER?
Yes, if they are long enough to be useful. Cut lengths from upgrades are common; give the measured length rather than an estimate.
Do you buy copper SER?
Yes, copper and aluminum service entrance cable are both reviewed. Copper is priced separately because the conductor value is different.
