Sell surplus copper wire in Indiana

Insulated copper, bare copper, grounding wire and copper cable in reels, spools, coils and unused cut lengths, bought from businesses across Indiana.

Copper is the highest-value material in most surplus wire rooms, and it is the category sellers ask about first. A sealed reel of THHN copper that was never installed is worth far more than its metal content, while weathered copper that has lost its markings is usually a scrap question rather than a cable question.

We buy both sides of that line, but we price them differently. If the jacket legend is readable and the reel tag shows footage, the material can be valued as usable wire. If the identification is gone, the conversation moves to conductor recovery.

Sellers are usually contractors with leftover branch-circuit wire, distributors with slow-moving sizes, or plants that pulled copper feeder during an upgrade. All three are worth a look when the quantity is more than a few hundred feet.

What we buy in this category

  • THHN and THWN copper in #14 through 500 MCM
  • XHHW and XHHW-2 copper, single and multi-conductor
  • Bare copper conductor and grounding wire in coils or reels
  • Copper SER, SEU and copper service entrance cable
  • Copper control, tray and instrumentation cable
  • Copper feeder and branch-circuit wire from commercial jobs
  • Green grounding conductor, insulated or bare
  • Unused cut lengths, partial reels and opened spools
Stranded bare copper conductors from surplus electrical wire held in a bundle
Bare and insulated copper are inspected separately, because conductor condition drives the price.

Copper products we review

Copper is described by stranding, insulation and application. The table lists what usually arrives and the photo that settles the identification fastest.

A note on bare copper and stripping. We buy bare copper conductor and grounding wire. We do not buy bales of stripped copper scrap, burnt wire or mixed copper-bearing material; those belong with a metal processor. If a lot mixes reusable cable with stripped scrap, separate them before submitting.

What makes a submission easy to price

Copper is easy to photograph, which means a good submission can be priced from photos alone in most cases.

  • The reel tag, showing footage, size and manufacturer
  • The printed legend on the jacket, including the type and voltage
  • A clear view of a cut end, showing strand count and conductor color
  • A wide shot that shows how many reels or coils are in the lot
  • Any note about whether the reel is sealed, opened or partly used

Condition and quantity

New and unused copper is the simplest to place. Sealed reels with legible tags get the most attention because there is nothing to verify beyond the label.

Partial reels are normal and welcome. Footage can usually be estimated from the tag, the remaining wraps or the weight, and the estimate is confirmed at pickup.

Used or pulled copper is reviewed case by case. It needs intact insulation and readable markings; heat damage, crushed jackets and missing identification will change the outcome.

Request a quote

Request a quote for copper wire

Send the copper type, size, approximate footage and a photo of the reel tag. Mixed copper lots are fine if each group is described.

  • Photos speed up review more than anything else
  • Cable markings, jacket legends and reel tags help us identify the product
  • No obligation and no cost to submit

What you have

Photos

Most useful: whole reels or spools, the printed cable markings and jacket legend, reel tags and labels, and a clear photo of the wire ends. Phone photos are fine.

Submitting this form does not commit you to sell and does not guarantee a purchase. We review condition, identification and quantity before quoting.

Copper wire questions

How much copper wire do I need to have for a quote?

There is no fixed minimum, but a few hundred feet is usually the point where a pickup or freight cost makes sense. Smaller quantities can still be quoted if they are part of a larger mixed lot.

Do you buy copper wire with faded markings?

Sometimes. If the construction can be confirmed from a remaining section of print or from the reel tag, it can be reviewed. Without any identification, the material is treated as scrap copper rather than usable cable.

Do you buy bare copper grounding wire?

Yes, in coils, spools and reels. Include the gauge and the approximate weight or length. Green-insulated grounding conductor is reviewed the same way as other insulated copper.

How is copper wire priced?

Copper content is priced against the market at the time of the quote, then adjusted for the type, condition, identification and quantity. A sealed reel of usable THHN is valued differently from the same weight of unidentified cable.
