Wire & cable we buy
Sell welding cable, SOOW and portable cord
Welding cable, SOOW, SJOOW, SEOOW and flexible cord in coils, spools and unused cut lengths from fabrication shops and contractors.
Welding cable and portable cord are the working cable of every fabrication shop, maintenance department and rental fleet in Indiana. They also fail by flexing rather than by age, which means condition is the whole conversation.
Unused welding cable on a spool is a straightforward purchase. Used welding cable that has been dragged across a shop floor, with cracked jacket or exposed conductor, is generally not. The same rule applies to SOOW and SJOOW cord: a clean coil with readable print is worth reviewing, and a sun-hardened coil from a yard is not.
We buy welding cable and flexible cord in spools, coils and cut lengths, and we will tell you plainly when the jacket has reached the end of its life.

Welding and flexible cable types
The jacket letter code tells you the rating. Photograph it rather than describing the cable from memory.
| Product | Typical construction | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| Welding cable | Fine-stranded copper, rubber or neoprene jacket, #6 to 4/0, 600V | Print showing the AWG and the jacket condition |
| SOOW | 600V portable cord, oil and water resistant, 18 AWG to 10 AWG | Photo of the printed letter code |
| SJOOW | 300V junior portable cord, smaller sizes | Print plus a photo of the coil |
| SEOOW | 600V thermoplastic elastomer cord | Legend photo showing SEOOW |
| STOW | 600V heavy-duty cord, often 10 AWG to 2 AWG | Close-up of the print and jacket |

Jacket condition is decisive. Cracks, flat spots, exposed conductor and sun damage are visible in a photo. Include a close-up of the worst section rather than the best one.
What makes a submission easy to price
Flexible cable is heavy for its length, so weight and footage are both useful to know.
- The printed letter code, such as SOOW or SJOOW
- Gauge and conductor count
- Approximate length or coil weight
- Jacket condition, including any cracks or flat spots
- Whether the cable is new, unused or has been in service
Condition and quantity
New and unused spools with factory labels are the best case and can usually be quoted from photos.
Unused but opened coils are reviewed on length and storage. Indoor storage keeps flexible cord in a much better position than a year in a conex.
Used cord and welding cable is reviewed case by case. Cracked jackets, exposed conductor and crushed sections will usually end the conversation, because the cable cannot be returned to service.

Welding and flexible cable questions
Do you buy used welding cable?
Sometimes, if the jacket is intact and the print is readable. Cable with cracks, exposed conductor or heat damage is not usable and is normally declined.
Can I sell a mixed pallet of cord and welding cable?
Yes, if each type and gauge is grouped and counted. A mixed pallet with no separation is difficult to quote accurately.
Do you buy extension cords?
Cord with molded ends is generally a finished product rather than bulk cable, and is usually not part of this category. Bulk SOOW on a spool is.
How is flexible cable measured?
By the printed length on the spool where available, or by coil weight and gauge. Give the most accurate number you have and note whether it is measured or estimated.
