Wire & cable we buy
Sell medium and high voltage cable in Indiana
5kV, 8kV, 15kV, 25kV, 35kV and 69kV+ cable in EPR, XLPE, concentric-neutral and shielded constructions, with the documentation that supports a resale.
Medium and high voltage cable is the highest-value industrial category we review, and the one where paperwork matters most. A sealed 15kV reel with a legible tag and test documentation is a completely different asset from an unmarked reel of the same size.
Most of what becomes surplus in Indiana comes out of plant substation work, utility rebuilds, data center infrastructure and municipal projects. When a design changes from 15kV to 25kV, or a project is cancelled after the cable was delivered, the reel is usually still in its factory packaging.
We buy EPR and XLPE cable from 5kV through 69kV and above, including concentric-neutral URD cable and tape-shielded constructions. Sealed ends, reel tags, test reports and storage history all affect the offer.
What we buy in this category
- 5kV, 8kV and 15kV EPR or XLPE cable, single and three conductor
- 25kV and 35kV shielded cable
- 69kV and above high voltage cable, reviewed individually
- Concentric-neutral URD medium voltage cable
- Tape shield, wire shield and drain wire constructions
- Copper and aluminum conductor, 1/0 through 1000 MCM
- Sealed factory reels with test documentation
- Unused cut lengths with recorded test data
Medium and high voltage constructions
Voltage class, insulation and shield type are the three details that define the product. Photograph the tag that states them.
| Voltage class | Typical construction | What to send |
|---|---|---|
| 5kV | EPR or XLPE insulated, shielded, 100% or 133% insulation level | Reel tag, print and test report if available |
| 8kV | Shielded cable for industrial distribution | Tag plus a photo of the cable end |
| 15kV | The most common class in plant and institutional distribution work | Tag, print, footage and test documentation |
| 25kV | Shielded cable for utility and larger industrial distribution | Tag plus shield construction details |
| 35kV | Heavier insulation, often utility or substation work | Reel tag, test reports and storage history |
| 69kV+ | High voltage cable, reviewed on documentation and inspection | Full documentation package before inspection |

Documentation checklist. Reel tag, factory test report, purchase record, storage location and whether the ends are sealed. A medium voltage reel without paperwork can still be reviewed, but the offer reflects the missing history.
What makes a submission easy to price
This category is reviewed on documents as much as photographs. Send what you have, even if it is incomplete.
- Reel tag showing voltage class, size, footage and manufacturer
- Factory test report or certification, if it was retained
- A photo of the sealed or capped cable end
- Shield and insulation construction from the print
- Storage history: indoors, outdoors, heated space or yard
Condition and quantity
Sealed reels with documentation are the strongest submission and can be quoted after a document review and photos.
Reels stored outdoors for long periods are reviewed carefully. Sun exposure, water ingress at the ends and damaged lagging all affect the insulation, and the offer reflects that.
Cut lengths need recorded test data and a measured length. Without either, the material is difficult to place even when the cable itself looks sound.

Include the voltage class, insulation type, size, footage and any test documentation. We will follow up for the rest.
- Photos speed up review more than anything else
- Cable markings, jacket legends and reel tags help us identify the product
- No obligation and no cost to submit

Medium and high voltage questions
Do you buy medium voltage cable without test reports?
Yes, it can be reviewed. The absence of documentation is reflected in the offer, and the reel may need inspection before a final number is possible.
What is the most common medium voltage cable you see?
15kV shielded cable from plant distribution and institutional projects, usually EPR or XLPE with a copper tape shield or concentric neutral.
Do you buy concentric-neutral URD cable?
Yes. Note the voltage class, conductor size and neutral strand count. Concentric neutral cable is common in utility and campus distribution.
Can you handle 69kV and above?
High voltage cable is reviewed individually, with documentation and inspection. Send the details before assuming it is a fit.
